"Changing The Way You Think About DJs"
Brandon "DJ Celsius" Callenius
My name is Brandon Callenius. I have been DJing since 2002.
I started my life as a DJ in the year 2002 at the United Methodist Church Camp in Okoboji, IA. I was a full time camp counselor and the entire time I was there in 2002 I was considered the camp's "resident dj: for their christian rock based dances. Even after I graduated high school and went to college I was close enough to be called back multiple times to be the guest dj for one of the camps weekly dances.
After I graduated college and moved to Sioux Falls, SD I soon found a mobile DJ company advertising for help. I applied later that day and was hired on the spot. The requirements to get hired by this company? A knowledge of music, free weekends and a dependable vehicle.
After a year in Sioux Falls I gave up DJing for 6 months to take a job painting farm equipment in a factory in Northwest Iowa. After 6 months I decided to move back to South Dakota in late 2005. Soon after I stumbled on another help wanted ad for mobile DJ's.
I went in and interviewed with the owner, shadowed two of his best DJ's to get a feel for the type of performance that was expected and was hired 2 weeks later. One week after that I took all the seats except the drivers seat out of my 1995 Monte Carlo in order to fit the larger and better equipment into the car as I did not yet have a large enough vehicle to hold it all comfortably. After two events I decided to buy my first mini van. By the time I was 24 I had traded off my sports car and was cruising the streets in my very own mini van.
The years and events flew by fast and I soon became known as one of the top mobile DJ's in the area. Soon enough I was getting a raise and being requested to personally DJ more and more events.
In 2007 my current employer offered to sell all of the equipment to his DJ's and book them as independent contractors and business owners. This allowed me to own my own gear and book a couple events for myself every year. About a month and a $4000.00 bank loan later Top Notch Entertainment was born and I was a business owner.
After a year of owning my own business I decided to expand myself even further and took a job as a DJ for a local night club, Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse. By the time I left in late 2010 myself and Sioux Falls DJ Squad owner Justin "DJ Inferno" Pitts had taken Wednesday and Thursday nights and turned them into two of the busiest nights of the week not counting Friday & Saturday.
In late 2010 I also decided not to renew my booking agreement with my former employer and booking agent and have now gone solo with Top Notch Entertainment. When you call and book Top Notch Entertainment I am the one you get unless you specifically ask for one of my associates from Sioux Falls DJ Squad which are also available through Top Notch Entertainment.
I am looking forward to helping you plan your next event and throw the party your guests will remember for years to come. I bring my "A" game to every booking and because of this I can promise you a party you won't soon forget. I look forward to hearing from you soon so that I can "change the way you think about dj's"!
